As part of my COEN390 "Computer Engineering Product Design" course, my team and I developed a real-time mask detection system with an accompanying Android app, designed for use in public indoor spaces where face coverings are required. A Raspberry Pi equipped with a UVC camera streams video to a networked compute server, which uses AI-based detection to identify individuals not wearing masks. When a violation is detected, the system sends a video clip and alert to the app. Tailored for businesses, the app supports features like admin/user account management, video clip storage, device health monitoring, and more.
