The SAE International Aero Design Competition is an annual competition hosted by the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE). For my engineering Capstone project, me and 9 other students were tasked with designing a suite of systems that can support the fight against wildfires through the delivery of water and parts for a ground vehicle. This includes a Primary Aircraft, whose goal is to transport as much water as possible, a secondary aircraft, which is to be deployed from the primary aircraft and must fly to a random landing zone autonomously while carrying parts for a third vehicle, which is a ground vehicle designed to transport the water autonomously through an obstacle course. As a member of the Systems team, I worked on a targeting pod, which calculates the GPS location of the random landing zones, and a ground station application, which will allow us to communicate with the aircraft and see the fpv camera feed. The competition was held in March 2023, where we managed to place third in Mission Performance, and third overall, marking our clubs first podium finish in 8 years
